The Best High Schools in Miami Springs

The only high school in Miami Springs is Miami Springs Senior High School, but we do not recommend this high school. Instead, we defer you to the schools we’ve recommended in our Hialeah city guide, Jose Marti MAST Academy 6-12 and Mater Academy Lakes High School.  

Greatschools.org rates Jose Marti MAST Academy 6-12 a 9/10 and Mater Academy Lakes High an 8/10. And both schools receive an “A” from the FDOE’s school accountability report. 

Jose Marti MAST Academy 6-12 is the same school we’ve mentioned in the middle school section, so you know it’s a public charter school. And Mater Academy Lakes High is also a part of Miami-Dade County’s public charter school system, so as always, students must apply and be selected to attend this school 

In terms of academic performance, both schools are great options. They’ve even been ranked in the U.S News and World Report for best high schools in the United States. Out of data from about 24,000 schools, Jose Marti MAST Academy ranks #94, and Mater Academy Lakes High ranks #1,444. 

In addition, both schools have also earned the College Success Award for their efforts in preparing students for college and later careers.  

Both of these schools receive mixed reviews and testimonies from greatschools.org, so it’s hard to provide a comprehensive picture of each school solely based on the reviews. You may want to read them for yourself and visit each school’s website to get a better idea of which school might be a good fit for your child.  

However, one Jose Marti MAST Academy 6-12 did say, “A wonderful school! Varied programs for STEM learning, many clubs & activities, and most importantly an administration and teachers that care about learning.”
